Most people know that there are many superfoods out there, but they have no idea how to make a superfood list without wheatgrass in it. I mean, what do you do with this green stuff? It’s got to be one of the most powerful foods around, right?

Well, it is, but only in small doses. You can get Wheatgrass powder from your local health food store and add a teaspoonful or so to smoothies, salads, juices, and smoothies blended together. It tastes great. You can even drink the juice on its own as a tea or as a vinaigrette. Sweet, fresh, and tangy are words that describe wheatgrass, but just a bit of a sprinkle will give you a much more rounded experience.

As for the superfood list, there are literally hundreds of benefits to ingesting Wheatgrass on a regular basis. What are they? The list includes things like anti-aging benefits, better circulation, more energy, healthier skin, and more. It seems that even though it was on my cooking top before, I’ve never made it a habit to add it to anything else. Maybe, because I’m lazy, or maybe I’m just old-fashioned. One thing I love about wheatgrass is the way it cuts down on the amount of bad cholesterol in the bloodstream. This happens because it contains an enzyme that actually converts all LDL cholesterol into HDL cholesterol (medium-density lipoprotein). Now, LDL is not such a bad thing, per se. It carries cholesterol in the body and sends it where it is needed. HDL, on the other hand, does not carry LDL. Either way, you are going to be putting yourself into a much healthier state.

Did you know that wheatgrass also helps reduce the chance of cancer and heart disease? It contains the phytochemical fucosylated quercetin, which has been shown to prevent certain cancers from occurring. Also, it acts as an antioxidant, removing dangerous free radicals that can build up over time in our bodies. All of this, plus the fact that it is loaded with calcium and magnesium, makes it extremely healthy.

Along with the other superfoods on my superfood list, I also add in a couple of different herbs. One of them, Asian Wulong, comes from the Evergreen tree and is used to soothe arthritis and muscle spasms. It can be found in many forms: in capsules, liquid, or tea form. Another herb that I love to add is the Asian Black Pepper, which boosts the immune system and serves to protect the body against viruses and bacteria. Another herb that I use on a regular basis is Reishi mushroom, which helps increase energy and also contains high amounts of antioxidants.

So now that you know what wheatgrass is, why not add it to your superfood list. Try adding some wheatgrass juice to your smoothies or shakes at night. Or, drink the daily recommended dose of wheatgrass juice by crushing a fresh sprout and adding it to your morning tea or coffee. Trust me; you’ll notice the difference very soon!
